Lucille Ross was born Lucille Charlotte Smith on February 15, 1920, to Charles and Ellen (Knouse) Smith at Barton, ND. She attended Barton Public Schools and graduating in 1938.
Lucille then moved to Huron and worked as a hospital aide at the Sprague Hospital. On May 12, 1940, Lucille married Herbert Ellis Ross in the Methodist parsonage.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. She belonged to La Sertoma and the Beadle Bums Camping group.
Her family was blessed to call her Mother and Grandmother. She liked to sew, to read, do crafts, and go camping.
She is survived by her husband Ellis Ross of Huron; two sons, Richard (Judy) Ross and Loren (Connie) Ross both of Huron; three grandchildren, Wendy (Marvin) Clark of Brookings, Scott (Traci) Ross and Carrie Thomas all of Huron; three great grandchildren, Zoey Thomas, Kaylei Ross and Allison Clark; one brother Roy C. Smith of Canyon City, CO; one sister-in-law, Zona (Myron) Zeeck; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Louise Caley, Leota Patton and Gracie Johnson, and three brothers, Robert Lloyd and Ronald Smith.
