Lucille Maunders, age 93, of Huron, SD, died Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 22, at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home, or Thursday morning one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Lucille Maunders was born Lucille Emma Meyers, daughter of Andrew and Matilda (Freese) Meyers, on April 18, 1916, in Beach, ND. The family was living in Montana at the time of her birth. When she was a young girl she moved with her family to Miller, SD, where she grew up and attended school. She later moved to Huron where she worked.
On October 22, 1938, Lucille married Joseph Maunders in Huron. The couple lived in Virgil for several years, and due to her husbands job with the railroad they were transferred to Pierpont, SD, Aberdeen, SD, and Mobridge, SD. In 1988, after his retirement, they moved to Huron.
She was a past member of the Church of Latter-day Saints; and presently First Baptist Church.
She is survived by 3 brothers and 1 sister, Frank Meyers, Gene (Clara) Meyers, Lyle (Donna) Meyers, and Gladyce (Harold) Owens, all of Huron; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Meyers of Cavour, and Karen Meyers of Ipswich.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe on August 2, 1996; 6 siblings, George Meyers, Bernard (Marie) Meyers, Ernest Meyers, Alva Meyers, Art (Rita) Meyers, and Angeline (John) Forbes; sister-in-law, Evelyn Meyers.
