Obituary

Lucille I. Coil, age 86, of 375 Dakota Ave. S., Huron, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at her apartment at Dakota Plaza surrounded by her family.

Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 12, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, January 11, at the Welter Funeral Home, with the family present from 6-8 p.m.; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Lucille Irene Foster was born November 5, 1922 to Woodson and Sophia (Pieper) Foster at Council Bluffs, Iowa. After the death of her mother in 1935 she moved with her family to Huron, South Dakota. She attended Huron Schools.

On May 18, 1947 Lucille married Marvin Coil at Lake Benton, MN. The couple made their home in Huron where Lucille worked for Armour and Company for 25 years before retiring in 1972. In l980 they moved to Yale, SD, where they lived for 21 years. They returned to Huron in 2001 and lived at Sun Quest Village until Marvin's death in 2005, when she moved to Dakota Plaza where she resided until her death.

In l952, she became a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #760, holding various offices and earning her cap and gown. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the VFW.

She enjoyed time with her family and friends, watching bowling, and golfing on television, traveling, dancing, and playing games and cards.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Dorinda Huth of Huron, three sons, Allyn (Virginia) Simonich of Adrian, MN, Rodney (Kathy) Coil of Belvidere, IL, and Marvin 'Freddy' (Marsha) Coil, Jr., of Huron, SD; 11 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, LeNore Steinmetz, Debbie (Russ) Winstead, Mike Coil, Tamara (Vicki) Simonich, Mark Coil, Scott (Gretchen) Simonich, Tricia (Rene) Walker, Dawn (David) Marshall, and Bobbi Jo Almadovar; James (April) Stickney and Jamie Stickney; 20 great grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren; two step- brothers William Hanson and Wayne Hanson; and many nieces and nephews; and special friend Kaye Wagner.

She was preceded by her parents, and step-mother Ella Foster, her husband, Marvin; one brother Benny Foster; three sisters, Opal Foster, Norma Toyne and Mary Fildes; three step-sisters, Lillian Heim, Doris Avery and Blanche Morgan; one granddaughter, Tonya Coil; and 1 great grandson, Barry Salter.
