Lucille Busch, age 95, of 1345 Michigan Ave, SW, Huron, died Sunday, October 24, 2004, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Friday, November 5, at the Welter Funeral Home with Garth Couey officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday morning until time of service at the funeral home. Lucille Busch was born Lucille Holforty on March 29, 1909, to Howard and Maude (Hutzell) Holforty at Huron, SD. Howard and Maude raised their family of nine children on a farm 2 miles east of Huron. Lucille was the 4th child, the first girl. She attended Custer Country School. After completion of her formal education, she lived at Redfield, IA, until the time of her marriage. For many years she kept house for a cousin while she lived at Redfield. On June 4, 1970, Lucille married W. Herman Busch at Huron. The couple resided at 871 Michigan Ave. SW, at Huron. She was a member of the Huron Christian Church. She was an excellent housekeeper and liked to cook. She enjoyed crafts and did quilting and crocheting, and loved to play Scrabble. Her many interests included genealogy and Lucille provided much of the information regarding the family history of the Marion L. Holforty/Belle Willhoite Holforty branch of the family that was included in the 1991 book authored by Sharlene Berge, The Family of John and Barbara Lutz (Lortz) Holforty. She is survived by 2 stepsons, James (Lillian) Busch of Alpena, and Louis (Sharon) Busch of Huron; 1 brother, Russell Holforty of St. Cloud, MN; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman on April 19, 1993; 4 brothers, Ernest Holforty, Lester Holforty, Vernon Holforty, and Richard Holforty; 3 sisters, Elsie Pinkal, Flora Scotter, and Neva Busch; 2 sisters-in-law, Rebecca Holforty, and Frances Holforty; and 2 brothers-in-law, Arthur Pinkal, and Elmer Scotter.
