Lowell Clark Dubro age 89, of Brandon, SD, formerly of Iroquois, SD passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.  His funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Iroquois, SD, with burial at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Friday, April 12, 2019 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD with a prayer service to begin at 6:30 PM; or one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Saturday.

Lowell Clark Dubro, the son of Herman Ernest and Mary Ernestine (Lorenz) Dubro, was born on December 29, 1929 on the Dubro farmstead (now a century farm) in Rural Iroquois, Belle Prairie Township.  Lowell attended grade school in Belle Prairie Township and then began farming with his father at a young age.

Lowell served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955.  He was trained as an Air Force Jet mechanic at Lackland Air Base in Texas. He then attended the Aeronautical School of Flight and Engineering in Tillamook, OR.  Lowell graduated with honors from the school and was then assigned to a combat zone during the Korean War for 13 months. After his tour Lowell was then sent to Andrews Air Force Base in Washington D.C.  He was honorably discharged in 1955.  During his service Lowell was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the United Nations Service Award, the National Defense Medal, the 50 ^th Anniversary of the Korean War Medal, and the Korean Service Medal.

While on leave from the Air Force, Lowell married LaVaye (Tibbetts) Dubro on December 27, 1951 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Bancroft, SD. They then lived in Washington D.C. for two years.

After Lowell's discharge from the Air Force in 1955, the young couple returned to the family farm. Lowell became full caretaker of the family farm and they began their life's work side by side on the farm.  From sun-up to sun-down, you could find them outside either in the fields or caring for the livestock. Lowell and LaVaye lived and loved the country life and enjoyed raising their daughters as country girls. One of Lowell's fondest memories was seeing his girls walking across the pasture to sit under a big tree and enjoy a sack lunch.  Lowell had to retire early from the farm because of health reasons.

Lowell was a long-time member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iroquois where he was baptized and confirmed. Lowell served on the church council, was president of the congregation, and was a faithful worshipper.  Lowell enjoyed the young families in the congregation and was instrumental in several community and church projects. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

In his spare time, you could always find Lowell in his shop overhauling or building some special yard ornament.  He enjoyed his antique tractors and drove them in many parades.  Lowell seldom needed any machine work done as he was the chief mechanic in his farming operation. Lowell also did a lot of custom work in areas such as combining, planting, and silage cutting.  Lowell was always there to give support to his wife and daughters.  Lowell made it a point to be there for all of his kids' events.

Grateful for having shared in Lowell's  life are his  daughters, Lonna (Mike) Wilson of Tea, SD and Leah (Mark) Gath of Luverne, MN; five grandsons: Darrin (Darcie) TeBeest of Sioux Falls, SD, Jason (Shelley) TeBeest of Brandon, SD,  Adam Wilson of Sioux Falls, SD, Dalton Gath  and Stetson Gath of Luverne, MN;  one granddaughter, Ashley Wilson of Tea, SD; four great-grandchildren: Rebecca Eidenshink-TeBeest, Briley TeBeest, Dakota TeBeest, and Gunnar Wilson;  two great-great-grandchildren;  special family member, Rosario Torres of Managua, Nicaragua; sister, Phyllis Engel of Montana; 3 sisters-in-law, Charlene Danilko, Twila Tibbetts and Brenda Tibbetts; brother-in-law, LaVerne Tibbetts; several nieces and nephews; and seven godchildren, one who is now deceased; special friend of the family Dwayne LaFave of De Smet, SD.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Mary; his wife of 65 years, LaVaye in 2017; daughter Laurie; in-laws Ruth and Donald Tibbetts; sister-in-law, Marge Tibbetts and four brothers-in-law: Harvey Hoffer, Ed Danilko, Donald Tibbetts, and Kenny Engel.
