Louise Hamilton, age 76, of Huron, died Monday April 19, 2010 at Huron Regional Medical Center.

Louise donated her body to the University of South Dakota Medical School.

There will be a private family burial of cremains at a later date.

Eleanor Louise Hamilton was born December 8, 1933 in Roundup, MT to Henry and Marjorie (Fisco) Skagen. She graduated from Roundup High School with the Class of 1951. Louise married Louis J. Hamilton in Billings, MT on January 11, 1960. Louise was instrumental in starting the Huron Area Center for Independence and served on the Board of Directors for 30 years. Huron Area Center for Independence honored Louise and Louis for their many years of hard work by naming one of the community homes, the Hamilton House. Louise was also active in the Association of Retarded Citizens, Huron Area Senior Center, Friends of the Library and many other community organizations until her health declined.

Louise is survived by; her husband of 50 years, Louis; and their children, Andrea (Scott) Meyer of Mitchell, Corinne Hamilton of Huron, Melissa Tegethoff of SD, Craig Tegethoff of Mitchell, Stephanie (Dennis) Bennett of Huron; eleven grandchildren; brother Robert (Jan) Skagen of Roundup, MT; nieces and nephews.
