Lorraine Evelyn Olmstead, age 80, of Huron, died on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at her home in Huron.
Her Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m.Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Huron.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Monday, November 23, at Welter funeral home with the family present from 6-8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.; or one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Lorraine Evelyn Larghe was born on November 4, 1929, to Lyle and Letha (Sheeley) Larghe in West Fargo, ND. She attended grade school in West Fargo, ND, and moved to Huron with her family in 1943. Lorraine graduated from Huron High School in 1945.
On June 1, 1946, Lorraine married George Olmstead in Huron. The couple made their home in Huron. Lorraine worked at the Armour Packing Plant in the mid 50s and as a seamstress in the mid 60s for Huron Cleaners. Lorraine was also a Domestic Engineer.
Lorraine was a member of the American Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her many interests included sewing, crocheting, crosstitch, knitting, woodcrafts, painting, cooking, and fishing.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her daughter, Georgia (Dorian) Cox of Union, OR; son, Garry (Marlene) Olmstead of Iroquois; 8 grandchildren, James Brenner, Jesse Brenner, Lisa Brenner, Amy (Chad) Johnson, Terra (Jason) Kettwig, Rocky (Wendy) Olmstead, Abel (September) Olmstead, and Louis (Brooke) Olmstead; 4 step-grandchildren, Chad (Brandi) Wilde, Chasity (Adam) Marcus, Heather Wilde, and Mallory Wilde; 17 great grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren 2 brothers, Ike (Harriet) Larghe, of North Dakota, and Lloyd (Kay) Larghe, of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in 2008; a son, David Olmstead in 2004; and her brother, Pete Larghe.
The family requests that memorials be made in Lorraines name to the Humane Society of Huron.
