Lorraine Denison, age 77, of Columbia, IL, and formerly of the Virgil area, died Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at her home in Columbia. Her burial service will be at 10:15 AM Friday, March 9, at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. There will be no visitation. Welter Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Southern Illinois; or Zoar United Church of Christ in New Hanover, IL. Lorraine Denison was born Lorraine B. Eggleston on December 16, 1929, to Cecil and Pearl (Luckey) Eggleston on a farmstead near Virgil, SD. She attended schools in the Virgil area and was a high school graduate. On May 16, 1948, Lorraine married Virgil Denison in Virgil, SD. She worked at Farmers & Merchants Bank in Huron for many years, and following her retirement, the couple moved to Columbia, IL in 1985. She had been a cook at American Legion Post # 581 in Columbia, and also was a Red Cross Blood Drive Volunteer for over 20 years. She was a member of Zoar United Church of Christ in New Hanover, IL. She is survived by 2 sons, Jerry (Bonnie) Denison of Columbia, IL, and Marvin (Brenda) Denison of Columbia, IL; 5 grandchildren, Travis (Mandy), Drew, Amy, Lauren, and Ryan; 9 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Myrna (Dan) Vanuk of San Antonio, TX; 3 brothers, Darrell Eggleston of Huron, Clinton (Joyce) Eggleston of Rapid City, and Glen (Janice) Eggleston of South Lyon, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Virgil on April 3, 1988.
