Loretta Christensen, age 100, of 220 13th St SE, Huron, died Monday, November 28, 2005 at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 3rd at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Monsignor Edward Burian officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the Mass at the church Saturday morning. There will be a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Loretta Christensen was born Loretta Margaret Wagner on December 24, 1904, to Albert and Helena (Hasker) Wagner at rural Alpena, SD. She attended country schools in Grant Township and worked in Huron before she was married. On January 2, 1940, Loretta married Christie F. Christensen at Huron. They made their home on a farm southwest of Huron until October 1995 when she moved to Huron to live with her daughter. Loretta was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, ANW Club, Good Neighbor Club, Spring Valley Farmers Union and Pinochle Club. She also enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, embroidering, reading, and playing cards. She is survived by 3 daughters, LeElda Higgins of Alpena, DeAnn Christensen of Huron, WyAnn (Delayne) Tebay of Alpena; 1 son-in-law, Jack (Karen) Peck of Huron; 8 grandchildren, Darnell Higgins, ReAnn (Mike) Knust, Kim Higgins, Twila (Greg) Vavra, Rick (Tiffany) Tebay, Brent (Kris) Tebay, Travis (Janet) Peck and Terence Peck; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 1 sister, Cecilia Marken of Mason City, IA; i sister-in-law, Edna Wagner of Washington, D.C.; many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Madonna Gamble. She was preceded in death by her husband, Christie on March 30, 1971; a daughter, LaJean Peck on November 27, 1996; a son-in-law, Darrell Higgins on April 2, 2005, a great granddaughter, Haley Tebay; 3 sisters, Anna Christensen, Katherine Lucklum and Rose Beck; and 5 brothers, Ed, Grover, George, Woodrow, and Paul Wagner.
