Loretta Bischoff, age 95, of 420 21st St. SW, Huron, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at StoneyBrooke Suites in Huron. Her funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Terry Anderson officiating. Burial will be at the Broadland Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m., or Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Loretta Rosalyn Tobin was born on August 11, 1912 to Frank Thomas and Anna [McGrath] Tobin at Huron, SD. She grew up in the Huron area, graduating from Huron High School in 1930. She went to Columbus Jr. College, receiving her teaching certificate, before teaching in the rural elementary schools in Fairfield and Theresa township schools in Beadle County. On June 10, 1939, she married Earl G. Bischoff in Huron and they made their home on the farm in Fairfield Township. They retired from the farm in 1977 to their home in Huron at 1525 Lawn Ridge Avenue. Earl died October 14, 1996. In February of 2007 Loretta moved to StoneyBrooke Suites in Huron. She was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church and the Altar Society, serving as president for several years. Loretta served as clerk of the local school board for 28 years and was a member of the first committee for the reorganization of Beadle county schools. She was a member of Fairfield Hope Ladies Aid, the S & C Club, InBetweeners Extension Club, Bridge Club, RSVP person, and served as democratic committeewoman for many years. She also volunteered at the St. Francis Thrift Store. Loretta is survived by her 6 children; four daughters: Eileen Elsinger of Fairfield, Iowa; Marilyn Steder of Dixon, Illinois; Jeanne Bischoff of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Joan [Perry] Danforth of Huron; two sons: Gerald [Janelle] Bischoff of Huron and John H. [Cindy] Bischoff of Acampo, California; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren: Zoe [Elsinger] and Timo Kivio of Albuquerque, NM; Dan & Shelly Vacek and children Abrianna and Hunter of Dixon, IL; Kevin Vacek of Phoenix, AZ; Stephanie [Danforth] & Clayton Johnson and Lavin of Bloomington, MN; Lincoln & Adeline Danforth of Minneapolis, MN; Lori [Bischoff] & Mike Peskey and Blake of Iroquois; Garret & Jill Bischoff and Peyton of Pleasantville, IA; Abby Bischoff of Sioux Falls; Matt & Heather Bischoff of Huron; Travis & Michelle Bischoff of Denver, CO; Jill Bischoff of Brookings; Joni [Bischoff] & Steven Olson of Arlington; and Tami Bischoff of Brookings; one sister-in-law: Esther Krutzfeldt of Huron; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl, on October 14, 1996; one infant son, Allen; two sisters, Gertrude Turner and Josephine Thieman; and three brothers, William, Francis, and Eugene Tobin.
