Lonny Grochow, age 53, of Parkston, SD, formerly of Huron, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Burial of his cremated remains will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 12, at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. (Following the burial service on Monday, friends are invited to join the family for refreshments and fellowship at Boog's Place in Parkston.)
There will be no visitation.
Lonny RuWayne Grochow, son of William and Lenora (Swanson) Grochow, was born on February 4, 1957, in St. Paul, MN. He lived and attended school in St. Paul until his 18th birthday.
He then served in the U.S. Air Force.
On February 2, 1977, Lonny married Debra Iverson at Inver Grove Heights, MN. Debra died on May 11, 1989.
The couple lived in Madison, SD, where Lonny worked as a truck driver; Deer Lodge, MT, also as a truck driver. Lonny lived in Winona, MN, where he was a realtor; and Huron, SD, where he was carpenter and owner/operator of Lonnys Country Bar & Grill in Alpena. He then lived in various places working as a carpenter until moving to Parkston in 1997 where he worked as a carpenter and did computer work.
His many interests included fishing, computer work, gold-panning, guitar playing, traveling, being outdoors, and an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
He is survived by 4 children, Loni Ann Grochow of Mitchell, Jacqueline (Mike) Luikens of Parkston, William Grochow IV of Mitchell, and Danielle Grochow of Mitchell; his parents, William and Lenora Grochow of Parkston; 7 grandchildren, Deanna Luikens, Amedea Luikens, Trinity Luikens, Jason Grochow, Alexander Drapeau, Lexy Grochow, and a granddaughter soon to be born; 2 brothers, Brad (Shelly) Grochow of Rapid City, and DelRay Grochow of Rapid City; and 1 sister, Pam (Ryan) Titze of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; his wife, Debra; and 1 brother, William Grochow III.
