Lois Evelyn Mortimer, age 94, of 375 Dakota Ave. S., Huron, SD, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 13, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Huron, with burial at the Altoona Cemetery in Hitchcock, SD.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 12, from 1-8 p.m. with the family present from 5-8p.m.; or Thursday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lois Englet, the daughter of Claire and Alma Englet, was born on March 5, 1914 in Redfield, SD.  She attended schools in the Redfield area and graduated from Redfield High School in 1933.  Lois married John A. Mortimer on August 29, 1948 in Huron, SD.  Lois worked in the catalog department for Montgomery Ward and Sears for many years.

Lois was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Huron.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Roger (Lauretta) Mortimer, Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Marvin Dixon; her sister-in-law Marianna Englet , Rapid City, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1994; daughter Mary Dixon; a sister, Dorothy and her husband, Leigh; and two brothers Lyle Englet, his wife Lois; and Burton Englet.
