Lois L. Knutson, age 94, of Huron and formerly of Balaton, MN, passed away on August 5, 2019 at her son's home in Huron. Her funeral service will be on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Skandia Evangelical Free Church in Balaton, Minnesota with burial at Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton. Her visitation will be on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Skandia Evangelical Free Church in Balaton.

Lois L. Knutson was born May 27, 1925 to parents John and Louise (Cox) Groeneweg in rural Balaton where she lived nearly her entire life.  She attended a country school.  Because her mother passed away while the children were still young, Lois helped raise her siblings.

Lois was united in marriage to Chester Knutson on January 16, 1952 at the Skandia Evangelical Free Church in Balaton, MN.  Lois was Chester's faithful companion and partner in everything.  She spent her married life taking care of Chester and her family on their farm near Balaton.  Lois enjoyed gardening and canning.  She also made many beautiful quilts for her family to cherish.

Lois loved the Lord with her whole heart.  This was evident to anyone who knew her.  She shared her love for the Lord with many and prayed for her family daily.  As things became more difficult for her, one thing the family always knew was that Grandma was always praying for "her kids."

Lois was so very thankful that she was able to live at home with her kids the past few years until the Lord called her home.  This was a precious time for the family as well. Lois didn't just spend hours reading her own books; she also had a good laugh at many of Olivia's books and enjoyed a good concert from her as well.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Bonnie (Chuck) Jacobsen of Humboldt, SD; her son, Bruce (Nikki) Knutson of Huron, SD; 3 grandchildren, Danny (Erica) Jacobsen, Krista Jacobsen and Olivia Knutson; one great-grandchild to be born in December; her sister, Ruth Abigt of Cedar Rapids, IA, and her sisters-in-law, Grace Knutson of St. James, MN, Linda Groeneweg of Forest Lake, MN, and Jordy (Groeneweg) Loredo.

Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Chester; two children, Danny and Debbie, who died as infants; her parents; her brothers, Isaac Groeneweg, Chet Groeneweg, Francis Groeneweg, Bob Groeneweg and Richard Groeneweg; her infant sister, Roberta; sisters-in-law Ann Groeneweg, Esther Groenweg; and brother-in-law Fred Abigt.  Preceding her in death on Chester's side of the family are Albert and wife Darlene Knutson; Russell Knutson; his sisters and their spouses, Myrtle and Vince Staples, Evelyn and Clarence Larson and Bea and Elmer Sevold.

Lois' prayers were answered on August 5, 2019 when she was able to "go home to Glory and meet her Savior" and be reunited with her precious Chester at the age of 94.
