Lloyd Severtson, age 78, of 379 Nicollet SW, Huron, died Thursday, October 28, 2004, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Monday, November 1, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with Rev. Rick Senner officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Military Rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Monday morning. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Lloyd Severtson was born on May 23, 1926, to Severt and Nellie Engen) Severtson at Southam, ND. He attended school in the Southam, ND, area. On October 20, 1944, Lloyd entered the United States Army and served in the European, African, and Middle eastern Theaters during World War II. On August 27, 1946, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge Lloyd returned to North Dakota where he was a mechanic in the Devils Lake, ND, area. On August 8, 1952, Lloyd married Betty Nixon at Southam, ND. They farmed for several years before moving to Heartland, ND, in 1960. While in Heartland, ND, Lloyd worked at the GTA Elevator. In 1968, they moved to Huron where he has lived since that time. While in Huron he drove the dairy truck for Land 'O Lakes for many years. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, and the Huron Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife Betty of Huron; one son, Byron (Cheryl) Severtson of Huron; two daughters, Coreen (Julian) Roseth of Midland, SD, and Luann (Kevin) Vining of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren, Cody Vining, Kristin Roseth, Cori Vining, Adam Roseth, Shana Ries, Chad Severtson, Gina Severtson, and Nick Roseth; one brother, Merwin (Frances) Severtson of Bull Head City, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward, Sylvester, and Norman Severtson; and two sisters, Helen Sundeen, and Mabel Severtson in infancy.
