Lloyd Knouse, age 90 of Huron, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 at his home in Huron surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life service will be held for Lloyd and his wife, Donna, who passed away on April 17, 2020, at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Welter Funeral Home with burial for Lloyd at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation, with their family present, will be from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Welter Funeral Home.

Lloyd Darrell Knouse was born on October 31, 1931 to parents Harry and Lena (Adamson) Knouse in Beadle County, South Dakota.

Lloyd married Donna Schley on September 25, 1952 in Chaska, Minnesota. To this union, 5 children were born. Lloyd was a freight truck driver for many years. He was an excellent marksman and loved to hunt, as he shot raccoons, deer, pheasants, and rabbits. He was also a skilled mechanic and enjoyed working on and riding motorcycles. In his younger years, he enjoyed boxing. He rode his gold wing to the Sturgis Rally for numerous years and had a great sense of humor. Donna and Lloyd held a weekly Friday night card game with dear friends Arnie and Clara Pedersen for years. Lloyd was a helpful neighbor to all, but his dedication to his wife Donna during her last years was admirable. He took gentle, loving care of her before her passing on April 17, 2020. Lloyd was a loving grandpa who cherished his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lloyd loved to give nicknames for a lot of the family which made them feel all the more special.

Grateful for having shared in Lloyd's life are his children, Lynne (Gary) Marshall, Larae Johnsen, and Derek (Rose) Knouse all of Huron; 8 grandchildren, Heidi (Allen) Harris of Mountain Home, ID, Lori (Terry) Wieting of Huron, Jayme (Tetiana) Marshall of Sioux Falls, Casey (Sarah) Knouse of Huron, Rachel (Matt) Johnson of Oak Grove, MN, Jodi Marshall of Huron, Shane (Donna) Johnsen of Wessington, and Kyle (Chelsey) Knouse of Huron; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Gerald (Evie) Knouse of Covington, OK; and many nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna; sons, Darrell Lee in infancy and Dennis Knouse; daughter-in-law, Shirley Knouse; grandsons, Tory Boomsma and Travis Knouse; great-granddaughter Arizona Johnsen; three brothers, Robert, Dean and Lyle Knouse; and two sisters, June Gildemaster and Carol Russell.
