Obituary

Lloyd C. Jensen, age 82, of Alpena, SD, died Sunday, May 7, 2006, at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, May 11, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Huron with Rev. Sarah Herman officiating. Burial will be at the Victor Cemetery at rural Mt. Vernon, SD. Friends may call Wednesday afternoon until 4:00 PM at the Welter Funeral Home and from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Wednesday evening at the First United Methodist Church in Huron with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM, or prior to the service at the church Thursday morning. Lloyd Clifford Jensen was born on October 2, 1923, to Clifford and Nellie (Heggen) Jensen at Letcher, SD. He attended Storla Elementary School for 8 years, and graduated from Letcher High School. Lloyd drove school bus when he was a senior at Letcher High School. Lloyd lived at Storla for 17 years and Alpena for 65 years. He worked in partnership with his brother, Willis, in the businesses of corn shelling, owning and operating feed stores, and cattle feeding. Beginning in 1957, they owned and operated the Jensen Brothers Feed Store in Huron for 46 years. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Woonsocket for many years and attended the United Parish of Alpena Church. His many interests included baseball, health products, and following the sports activities of his nieces and nephews. He was a very compassionate person and enjoyed his visits to friends in hospitals and nursing homes. He is survived by 4 brothers, John (Barbara) Jensen of St. Paul, MN, Willis (Diane) Jensen of Sioux Falls, Bob (Ruth) Jensen of Alpena, and Leslie (Mary Louise) Jensen of Alpena; 2 sisters, Marian (Martin) Andersen, Jr. of Woonsocket, and Ardis (Dr. Leslie) Grace, Jr. of Blair, NE; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Betty Jean at 6 months, and Nellie at birth; and 1 great niece, Stephanie Jensen.
