Lloyd R. Batien, age 76, of Wolsey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at his home. A memorial service will be determined at a later date.

Lloyd was born in Huron, SD to Floyd and Florence McMillan Batien on August 5, 1947. He grew up on the family farm near Carpenter, SD. His family moved to Willow Lake, SD while he was in High School. He served in the National Guard. He worked at the elevator in Willow Lake after high school. Thru the years, Lloyd managed Grain Elevators in Rutland, SD and Kidder, SD. He managed the Fredrick Co-op in Fredrick, SD, and Dupree Grain Elevator in Dupree, SD. He worked as the Grain Purchaser at the Zip Feed Mill in Huron, SD. He managed the Performance Seed Grain Plant in Miller, SD for 20 years prior to retirement.

Lloyd was married to Sheryl Law in Willow Lake on July 17, 1971. They were the parents of two children, Richard of Sioux Falls, SD and Mandi of Brookings, SD.

Lloyd enjoyed woodworking, building and refinishing furniture and gardening during the summer.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Roger Batien and Jerry Batien, his father-in-law Wayne Law, and sister-in-law, Judy Law Duerksen. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl, son Richard and daughter-in-law Nicole, grandson Nicholas, his daughter Mandi, his brother, Roland [Dee] from Gold Canyon, Arizona, sister-in-law Susan Batien, his mother-in-law Norma Law, sisters-in-law Marlene Law Struckman (Kerry) and Carolyn Law Stolp (Jerry), brother-in-law Roger Duerksen and uncle, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
