Obituary

Lisa Johnson, age 49, of Huron, SD, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at her home. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 6, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial at 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at Grandview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation with family present will be Thursday, June 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with a scripture and rosary service at 8:00 p.m.; or Friday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Lisa Johnson was born Lisa Marie Reimer, daughter of William C. and Mary Frances (Olinger) Reimer, on November 3, 1964, in Chamberlain, SD. She attended grade school in Chamberlain and Chamberlain High School 1980-1983; South Dakota State University 1983-1987 graduating with a double major in Ag Marketing and Ag Journalism. Following graduation Lisa moved to Denver, CO, where she was employed by North American Limousin Association until 1989 when she moved to Silverthorne, CO. On September 28, 1991, Lisa married Gary Johnson in Silverthorne. Lisa worked at Summit Co. Bank until 1989, then worked as the office manager of Colorado First Construction until 1995. Lisa then returned to Chamberlain and worked at Register Lakota Printing until 1997, when she moved to Huron. She started her own business, Cowmania Creations, in 1997 so she could stay at home with her children. In 2004, she sold Cowmania Creations, and then worked for Legend Seeds in De Smet, SD, from 2004 to 2005. She worked at Farm Service Agency in the Federal Building in Huron from 2006 until the present as an Administrative Specialist. Lisa's many interests involved all of her children's activities including showing cattle, sheep, rodeo, wrestling, football, soccer, and volleyball. She had an unending zest for volunteerism as well as a love of gardening and fishing. She was a member of 4-H for 11 years; FFA member; 1985 Miss South Dakota Stockgrower; SDSU Alpha Gamma Rho RhoMates, 4-H Leaders Association; Chair of Buchanan PTAO; Chair of Huron Wrestling Club; President of Tiger Roar; chaired U-Fit-It at SD State Fair; Holy Trinity Catholic Parish; taught CCE at Holy Trinity; involved with SD Jr Simmental and SD Jr Hereford Associations. Lisa is survived by her husband, Gary of Huron; 2 children, Courtney and Jeremiah; 3 siblings, Steve (Elaine) Reimer of Chamberlain, Janelle (Gerald) Bischoff of Huron, and Kathy (Pete) Torres of Atlanta, GA; her mother, Mary Frances Reimer of Chamberlain. She was preceded in death by her father, William C. Reimer; paternal grandparents, Pete and Dora Reimer; and maternal grandparents, Joe and Clara Olinger.
