Linda Liedtke, age 68, of Huron, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Her funeral service will be on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation with her family present will be on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
Linda Elaine Ortbahn was born on November 28, 1950 to parents Raynold "Lefty" and Ruth (Molander) Ortbahn in Huron, South Dakota. Linda attended country school in the Virgil area and graduated from Wolsey High School. Linda married Dennis Liedtke on December 19, 1970 at the Virgil United Methodist Church in Virgil. Linda attended Huron Business College, majoring in business accounting. After college, Linda moved to Minneapolis and worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield. Dennis and Linda returned to Huron in 1972.
While Linda's children were growing up, she was a homemaker. Linda then worked at Jack's Janitorial for several years, she then cleaned houses for friends. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of flowers. She liked to bake. Traveling to Minnesota and Washington to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, was very important to her. Linda and Dennis were members of Virgil Methodist Church and attended church at Riverview United Methodist in Huron.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis, of Huron; children Brad (Theresa) Liedtke of Carson, WA, and Dawn (Eric) Dillon of Zumbrota, MN; 5 grandchildren, Melina and Brice Liedtke, Reagan, Alyson, and Carson Dillon; brother Michael (Waneta) Ortbahn of Huron; sister Nancy Wheeler of Huron; two nieces Shantel (Tony) Tschetter of Hitchcock and Katherine (Jeremy) Landrum of California; three nephews Nathan Schweizer of Pennsylvania and Jesse (Savanna) Schweizer of Colorado and Daniel Liedtke of Wisconsin; brothers-in-law Wayne (Lois) Liedtke of Johnstown, CO and Morris (Irene) Liedtke of Huron; sister-in-law Jan (Phil) Schweizer of Monument, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and two nephews, Brody and Joshua Liedtke.
Per Linda's wishes, please dress casual for the funeral service.
