Lewyln Voigt, age 66, of Iroquois died Monday, May 31, 2010 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron, SD.

His funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 4, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iroquois, SD, with burial at later date.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday, June 3 at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 6-8 PM; or one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.

Lewyln (Newt) Dale Voigt was born April 16, 1944 in Avon, SD, to Newton and Marcella (Lippert) Voigt. He graduated from Parkston High School in 1963. Newt married Viola Comstock in 1969 in Miller, SD. He worked drilling wells for many years, first at Huron Well Drilling and then later for Grosch Irrigation in Georgia. Newt returned to Iroquois in 1985 and started to ranch cattle. He was a member of the Bensley-Rounds American Legion Post #280 in Iroquois. Newt enjoyed; sports, especially the Chicago Bears; fishing; morning coffee at Blues Country Store; and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Newt is survived by; his mother, Marcella Voigt of Irene, SD; son, Scott Voigt of Iroquois, SD; daughter Sondra (David) Naber of St. Lawrence, SD; 5 grandchildren, Kadden and Lakken Voigt, Braeden and Preston Naber, Taven Hallan; sister, LaDonna (Stephen) Speirs of Yankton; one niece and one nephew.

Newt was preceded in death by his father, Newton, on August 27, 1997.
