Lester Will, 88, of rural Gann Valley, SD, died on Monday, May 21, 2012, at Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 25, at St. Placidus Catholic Church, (35640 221st St.), rural Duncan/Gann Valley, SD, preceded by a rosary service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Lester Paul Will, the first child of Lester and Ella (Hayes) Will, was born September 20, 1923, at St Joseph's Hospital in Mitchell, SD. He attended grade school at their little country school known as "Wide Awake School". Lester attended Wessington Springs High School for his first two years then completed his last two years and graduated at Gann Valley High School. After finishing high school he spent the rest of his life operating the family farm near Gann Valley. Lester was a lifetime member of St. Placidus Catholic Church (Duncan Church). Lester was known for his kindness and his big warm heart. He was always willing to help others whenever they needed help. His three favorite loves in his life were the farm, the livestock, and his dog, "Pepper". He is survived by 2 sisters, Mary Jane Shuey of Aurora, CO, and Laura Mae Johnson of Chamberlain; 2 brothers, Dr. William (Norma) Will of Huron, and Dr. Donald (Marilyn) Will of Wildwood, MO; numerous nieces and nephews; and Doug Heilman who was a friend, confidante, and hired hand of Lester's for 26 years, of rural Gann Valley, SD. Lester was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Lyle Will; 2 brothers-in-law, Kenneth Johnson and Philip Shuey; and 1 nephew, Michael Will.
