Lester Kahre, age 83, of Wolsey, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at his home in Wolsey. His Funeral Service will be on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church with burial at St. John's Cemetery in Wolsey. Visitation, with his family present, will be on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 5-7 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey. Lester Wayne Kahre was born on April 23, 1938 in Beadle County to parents Arthur A. and Gertrude (Scheibe) Kahre. He attended St. John's Parochial School and Wolsey High School, graduating in 1956. Lester then attended South Dakota State University, graduating in 1960. Lester returned to the Wolsey area and farmed.

Lester married Corinne (Gulbraa) Rowe on August 25, 1979 in Wolsey. He was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he served as the treasurer and the cemetery sexton for many years. Lester was on the Dearborn Township Board and the ASCS county committee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Herman and Adeline Gulbraa and sisters-in-law, Geraldine Kahre and Kalyn (Donald) Erickson.

He is survived by his wife, Corinne of Wolsey; stepdaughter, Toni (Bryan) Miedema of Wolsey; stepson, Jon Rowe of Wolsey; brother Vernon Kahre of Huron and sister Eileen (Larry) Waldner of Huron; grandchildren, Mandy (Dennis) Marone and their children Addison and Hayes, Eric (Jenna) Miedema and their children Cade and Kenley, Jabe (Abbey) Miedema and their daughter Marlene; brother-in-law, Harley (Judy) Gulbraa of Watertown; and several nieces and nephews.
