Leroy Hintz, age 77, of Yale, died Friday August 27, 2010, at SunQuest Health Care Center in Huron.

His funeral service will be 10:30 am Monday, August 30, 2010, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron with burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Yale.

Visitation will be 1-8 pm Sunday August 29, at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 6-8 pm; or one hour prior to service on Monday.

Leroy Marvin Hintz was born October 15, 1932, north of Cavour to Adolf and Paulina (Walz) Hintz. He graduated from Yale High School in 1950.

Leroy married LaVonne Hofer on May 7, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yale.

Leroy was a life long farmer in the Yale area. Leroy served on the Iroquois School Board and the board of the Yale Farmers Co-op. Leroy enjoyed playing and watching baseball and basketball. He loved hunting and driving around in his pick-up looking at crops.

Leroy is survived by 5 daughters, Carey Hintz of Huron, Connie Hintz of Chandler, AZ, Corey (Keith) Decker of Huron, LaNette Kouf of Lake Byron, Laurie (Russ) Kleinsasser of Huron; son, Scott (Lori) Hintz of Yale; 9 grandchildren, Barry Drake, Dezarae (Adam) Fenski, Trent Kouf, Tyler Hintz, Dexter Harmon, Tyniah Hintz, Brittni Decker, Kenzie Kleinsasser, Brooke Decker; 4 great grandchildren, Gage, Talon, Ivory Fenski, Shaunah Drake; sisters, Vera (Maurice) DeWolf of OR, Vylene (Elmer) Beckman of Huron; many nieces and nephews.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 44 years, LaVonne in 1998; two sisters, Loretta Anderson and Phyllis (Bill) Moeller, 2 brothers, Gilbert (Tubby) Hintz and infant brother Wilmur Hintz.
