LeRoy Halter, age 82, of Huron died Thursday, May 29, 2014, at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron. His funeral service will be 10:30 am Monday, June 2, 2014, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with burial at St. Martin Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 6-8 pm Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the church. LeRoy Joseph Halter was born on December 22, 1931 in Huron to Joseph and Francis (Paul) Halter. He attended St. Theresa Catholic School and graduated from Huron High School in 1950. He spent his life farming in Custer Township. LeRoy moved to SunQuest Healthcare Center in 2008. LeRoy is survived by his brother, Glen (Ellen) Halter of Cavour; nieces and nephews, Julie (Dennis) Wieczorek of Hartford, SD, Michael (Linda) Halter of Cavour, Bruce (Kathy) Halter of Bettendorf, IA, David (Kathy) Halter of Brandon, SD, Diane (Keith) Backer of Brandon, SD, and Ross (Abby) Halter of Huron; many great nieces and nephews; and special friend, Betty Schroeder of Huron. LeRoy was preceded in death by his father, Joe in 1988; and his mother, Frances in 1994.
