Leone M. Gray, age 97, of Max, ND, formerly of Huron, SD, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012, at the Garrison Memorial Hospital in Garrison, ND. Her Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD, with burial at the Riverside Cemetery in Huron. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday morning. Leone Martha Ibis, the daughter of William Frederick and Ernestina (Wollman) Ibis, was born on May 11, 1915, in Freeman, SD. Leone attended country school and helped her folks on the family farm during her childhood. Leone also attended a year of business school. Leone worked as a waitress for the Green Thumb and the Senior Citizens Center in Minot, ND for many years. She also worked for Swift and Company, and the Armour Meat Packing Company. Leone married Dick Richard Gray on December 23, 1937, in Custer, SD. Leone lived in Rapid City, SD, and Denver, CO, before moving to Huron, SD in 1948. In 1979 Leone moved to Garrison, ND, and then to Minot, ND, in 1989. Leone was a member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, Pheasant hunting in South Dakota, baking and cooking, and gardening. Grateful for having shared in Leone's Life are her son, Melvin (Carol) Gray of Max, ND; daughter, Beverly Owens of Minot, ND; six grandchildren: Charlene (Craig) Hopfauf of Bismarck, ND, Dick (Laura) Gray, April Gray, and Bridjette Gray, all of Max, ND, Jaylene (Todd) Evanhoff of Minot, ND, and Jolynn Owens of Georgia; fifteen great-grandchildren; and sister Johanna Honey of Spicer, MN. Leone was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dick Richard Gray; daughter, Norrine Gray Levy; four brothers William, Arnold, Richard, and Arthur Ibis; and four sisters, Molly Stirley, Katie Stitzenbecher, Pauline Johannsen, and Eleanora Rolof.
