Jack was born July 8, 1925 at Hitchcock SD to Jacob and Bertha (Glaze) Price; the 6th of 8 children. Jack attended school at Nunda until the 6th grade when the whole family packed up everything they owned and moved to Wyoming. He often laughed about his parents and 7 of the 8 children in one car following another family. Jack continued his education at the Maxon School and Logan school at the Ramsey Ranch near Rock Springs WY through the 8th grade. Jack grew up alongside his father and brothers doing ranch work and capturing wild horses on the "Red Desert" to sell. It was an interesting but hard life and later on in life he wrote two books to share stories with his family.
Jack was very proud of the fact that he and 3 of his brothers served in WWII and his youngest brother "Sweed" in Korea. His oldest brother paid the ultimate price with his life and was buried in an American cemetery in Italy. A proud American veteran, Jack served in the American Legion for over 70 years and was currently a member of the Hershmen/Gordon Post 59 in Wolsey. He was also a past member of the Wolsey Lions Club.
After his discharge from the Army he returned to the Huron area where he obtained his GED in 1946 and ran "Jack's Delivery Service". Jack married C. Maxine Binger on May 2, 1948 in Tulare, bringing 7 children into this union. They farmed in the Tulare area and later moved into town where Jack worked at the gas station and later worked for the Dan Dugan Transport Company as a fuel transport driver. After his divorce from Maxine, Jack moved his family to Wolsey where Dugan's was based out of.
He married Mavis (Olson) Ruedebusch on July 31, 1971 in Huron. A widow with 8 children, they became one very large family, some of whom were already married and not living at home. He continued to work as a truck driver until he retired after 21 years.
Jack enjoyed horses, camping, and spending time with family and friends. There was always a family vacation which turned into many trips to the Black Hills and the Red Desert of WY. Jack loved having family reunions and cooking his famous "Uncle Jack's" pancakes on his special grill over an open camp fire that became a family tradition and were loved by all! He also enjoyed traveling the US and Europe along with wintering in Quartzsite, AZ for over 20 years with his love Mavis. Jack wrote and published two books about his life growing up with Wild Horses in WY; with Mavis at his side they traveled and held book signings and sales all over the west.
Jack is survived by his children; Larry (Rita) Price, Redfield, Jerol (Kathy) Price, Hartford, Glenda (Kevin) Meyer, Watertown, Paulette Church, Yulee FL, Douglas (Marlene) Price, Sundance WY, Karma (Doug) Schiltz, Wolsey, Jeanna (Jesse) Wirth, Williams Bay WI, Nancy (Greg) Larsen, Marion, Jim (Brenda) Ruedebusch Huron, Steven (Nelly) Ruedebusch, Omaha NE, Connie (Allen) Williams, Wolsey, David Ruedebusch, Huron, Drew (Patty) Ruedebusch, Mobridge, Lisa (Keith) Beck, Mitchell, Mark (Sherri) Ruedebusch , Colton; two sisters, Rosella Blunk, Green River WY, Jean Skarin, Redfield; two sister's-in-law, Luella Price, Mesquite NV and Alice (Bruce) MacNeil, Huron; and one brother-in-law, Don Olson, Castlewood; 42 grandchildren; and 69 great-grandchildren.
