Leona M. Peskey, age 102, of Iroquois, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society-De Smet in De Smet, SD. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iroquois with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation, with her family present, will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday morning.

Leona Marie was born on August 31, 1921 in Beadle County, SD to parents Ernest and Anna (Zell) Kopplin.

Leona married Hillard Dale Peskey on October 27, 1941 in Bancroft, SD. To this marriage, two sons were born, Dennis and Dean. Leona and Hillard made their home in rural Iroquois where they farmed until retirement. IN 1995, they moved to Iroquois and in 2000 they moved to Huron. Hillard passed away in 2002.

Leona was a life-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Leona was a dedicated farmwife. She enjoyed working in her large flower and vegetable gardens.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Janet) Peskey of rural Iroquois and Dean (Marlys) Peskey of Iroquois; 5 grandchildren, Michael (Lori) Peskey, Cheryl (Erin) Wilkinson, Joni (Chris) Ekstrum, Jill (Chad) Hanson, and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Peskey; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, Hillard in 2002; her parents, Ernest and Anna Kopplin; and her brother, Vernon Kopplin in 1992.
