Lenora Peskey, age 92, of Huron, formerly of Iroquois, SD passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron, SD.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Iroquois, with burial at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 11, followed by a prayer service to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD; or visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Lenora Mae Zell, daughter of William and Emilie (Koser) Zell was born on November 25, 1926 in rural Cavour in Beadle County, being number 13 out of 15 siblings. She attended school in Cavour, graduating from Cavour High School. Lenora worked at the Swift Plant after high school. She then worked at the Plains and Iroquois High School as a cook. She also cleaned houses. Lenora married Armand Peskey on November 8, 1944 in rural Iroquois, SD. The couple made their home on the family farm near Iroquois where they lived until moving to Huron in 2014. Lenora loved being at the farm raising her children and being a farmwife.

Lenora was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a Sunday School teacher, Choir Director, and Ladies' Aide President.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and canning. She and Armand enjoyed camping and traveling, including trips to Germany, Mexico, Canada, Colorado, Texas, and Montana.

Grateful for having shared in Lenora's life are her four children: Barb (Douglas) Canode of Gallatin Gateway, MT, Judy (Dave) Crenshaw of Colorado Springs, CO, Alan Peskey of Brookshire, TX, and Todd Peskey of Iroquois, SD; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; brothers Harland (Mary) Zell of Missouri and Verald (Phyllis) Zell of Louisiana; sister Esther Koenig-Moschkou of Wisconsin; sister-in-law Velda Zeeck of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.

Lenora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Armand in 2017; and brothers and sisters.
