Obituary

Lela Mae Grohs, age 81 of Huron, SD, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at her home in Huron surrounded by her family.

Her Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM on Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron, SD, with burial in the St. Martin Cemetery.

Visitation, with family present, will be from 2-4 PM Sunday, October 21, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Lela Mae Reindl the daughter of Peter P. Reindl and Florence (Ryan) Reindl was born on November 23, 1936 in Wessington Springs, SD.  Lela, or Mae as she was known by, attended Longfellow and Willman Country schools and graduated from Wessington Springs High School.  Mae worked at the Public Welfare Office at Jerauld County and as a part-time bookkeeper for Patton Meat Market from 1954-1959. She was a homemaker and then became co-owner of Grohs Plumbing from 1971-1993.
Mae married Donald S. Grohs on September 27, 1955 in Wessington Springs, SD.  The couple made their home in Wessington Springs before moving to Huron in 1961 where they have resided since.
Mae was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish for many years.  Mae worked as an election worker for many years. She loved spending time with her family, especially baking for her grandchildren where she earned the title of Best Cookie Baker in Town! She was an avid sports lover and loved watching any sports on television and attending her grandchildren's many activities. She also enjoyed playing cards and going on walks.
Grateful for having shared in Mae's life are her husband, Don of Huron; eight children Janet (Jerry) Bockorny of Huron, Keith (Jerolyn) Grohs of Huron, Susan (Bruce) SoRelle of Arlington, TX, Terry (Kathy) Grohs of Omaha, NE, Beth Grohs of Huron, Eileen (Gary) Wedel of Mitchell, Kelly (Joan) Grohs of Aberdeen, and Peggy (Kevin) Tschetter of Huron. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents;  brothers LeRoy Reindl, Everett Reindl, Lloyd Reindl; sisters Maxine Reindl, Patricia Grohs, and Elinor Knight.
