Leif J. Klicker, age 58, of Virgil, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 near Phillip, South Dakota. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Welter Funeral Home with burial to follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Wolsey. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Leif's family requests memorials to the Beadle County Humane Society.
Leif Joseph Klicker was born on July 9, 1967, in Huron, South Dakota, to Christian and Denise (Balvin) Klicker. He grew up in the Wolsey area and graduated from Wolsey High School in 1985. Following high school, Leif attended the University of South Dakota.
Leif had various jobs throughout his life most notable in sales, both car and shoe sales. For several years he had a screen printing business with Collin Loesch where they traveled all over going to different shows, whether it was rodeos, stock shows, car shows, and fairs.
He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he especially loved photography, exploring new places, and taking road trips. Leif had a special fondness for black labs and always had one faithfully by his side. His loyal companion, Cole, held a special place in his heart.
Grateful for having shared his life is his aunt Mavis Bensley of Seattle, Washington and her family Kris Bensley-Betts and Ron Bensley, Jr; his cousins, Doug Heller, Craig Heller, Dale Heller and along with their families; Special second cousins, David Struck, Collin Loesch, Curt Loesch, Molly Barker, Delbert Klicker, along with many more cousins not listed; his beloved black lab, Cole; and his special friend, Nicole Abbott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Denise; one aunt; and two uncles; and his black lab Clyde.
