Leann Marie Felsheim was born June 15, 1950, to Harry and Joyce (Hatheway) Felsheim in Parker, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm north of Parker and graduated from Parker High School in 1968.
Leann married Vernon Frye on May 31, 1969, and to this union four children were born, Tammy, Sherri, Michael and Melissa. Leann and her family resided in Huron where she worked at various businesses until starting her career in banking. Leann married Russel Dramstad on April 6, 1979, in Huron and gained two more sons, Michael and Matthew Dramstad.
She began her banking career at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Huron in 1988 where she made so many wonderful friends over the years. Leann was best known as the VIP Coordinator and served as the Compliance Officer. As the VIP Coordinator, better known as a Concierge, she had the privilege of taking her VIP people on trips all over the world. She spent many hours planning these trips for her customers and always put in an extra touch to make the experience special for each and every person, such as games, videos, brochures, and of course treats and prizes.
As her children were growing up, Leann was very active in their lives by volunteering as a girl scout and boy scout troop leader, delivering newspapers, helping with homework, volunteering her time with the high school band, and driving them to special events. Her children were her pride and joy, and she always went the extra mile to make things special for them. Some of their favorite memories are cruising around the mall parking lot in the little green car, or road trips in the orange "Good Times Machine" van while listening to the song Dueling Banjos. She also enjoyed playing games and made sure that every activity had prizes. Leann's house was always open for her kids and their friends to hang out and play games. The family enjoyed many camping trips and vacations over the years. No matter where they were going, Leann always had her activity bag packed to keep everyone busy.
Some of her interests included playing piano and organ, serving as organist at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. Her favorite hymn was to play How Great Thou Art and could sit down and play it by memory whenever asked. She loved making trips to spend time with her mom, Joyce, playing cards, bingo, and putting puzzles together before her mom's passing in 2020. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Candy Crush, watching the Game Show Network, and watch The Young and the Restless.
Leann especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She earned the nickname "Grandma Lala" when Collin was a baby, and that name has stuck with her ever since. She loved to spoil her grandchildren with gifts including Precious Moment figurines and $2 bills to represent how old they were. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. As a mother & grandmother she was generous, loving, and kind. She spoiled them as much as she could. Leann recently became a great-grandmother, and she was absolutely thrilled about her family growing even bigger. She made sure she attended as many concerts, sporting events, and performances as she could. She put many miles on her van traveling around the state and always had to listen to an audio book to help pass the time. Leann took each of her 11 grandchildren on a trip when they turned 10 years old. Their "10-year trips" took her to Disney World, Omaha, and several trips to the Black Hills. These trips were very special to the kids and to Leann and the memories will be cherished forever.
Her life and love will be forever cherished by her husband, Russel of Huron; children and grandchildren, daughter Tammy (Bryan) Nelson of Brookings and their children, Shelby (Alex) McNamara, Josh (Tehra) Nelson, and Brandon Nelson (fiancé Lindsey Jones), daughter Sherri (Brian) Whitney of Sioux Falls and their children, Alexis Whitney, Alex Kafka, Thatcher Whitney and Alyssa Kafka, son Michael (Dana) Frye of Sioux Falls and their children, Austin (Lindsey ) Carr, Kaylee, Cooper, and Caden Frye, daughter Melissa (Cory) Hayes of Faulkton and their children Hayden, Savanna, and Collin Hayes; one great-granddaughter, Emerie Nelson; step-son, Michael (Tammy) Dramstad of Huron and their children, Thacher and Thorn, and step-son Matthew Dramstad; two brothers, Larry (Mary) Felsheim of Sioux Falls and Garry (Sally) Felsheim of Parker and one sister Marlene (LaMont) Jibben of Parker; step-sister Lois Wells of Custer, step-brother Larry (Phyllis) Schrag of Ames, IA, brother-in-law, Duane (Julie) Dramstad of Binford, North Dakota and sister-in-law Melissia Dramstad of Minnesota, plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Joyce, step-dad Lloyd Schrag; sister Joan; parents-in-law, Harry and Lorraine Dramstad; and brother-in-law, Roger Dramstad.
