Laura Perryman, age 85, of Huron passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. Her Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, followed by a burial service to begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Maplewood Cemetery in Iroquois, SD. Laura Thompson, the daughter of Oscar and Amanda (Engevik) Thompson, was born November 2, 1929 in Clark, SD. Her early childhood was spent in the Buffalo Lake area. The family then moved to Watertown, SD where she attended school. Laura married Donald Hansen on September 16, 1946. He passed away in 1958. Laura married Willis E. Perryman on June 1, 1960 in Iroquois, SD. The couple lived on the Perryman family farm north of Iroquois until 1999 when they moved to Huron because of Willis' failing health. He passed away on May 26, 2002. Laura was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bancroft, SD. Starting in her early teens throughout her adult life, Laura cared for and helped others. After her children left home, Laura opened her home to the elderly and started and adult foster care home, having as many as four individuals at one time. She operated this home for ten years. Grateful for having shared in Laura's life are her son, Craig (Lauren) Perryman of Eureka, CA; her daughter, Debra (Kelly) Snyder of Huron, SD; grandson, Jesse Hougland of Brookings, SD; brother, Richard (Jan) Thompson of Parker, SD; sister, Jane (Tom) Torres of Brentwood, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; husband Willis in 2002; and brother, Allen Thompson.
