Laura Flowers, age 94, of 1251 Arizona Ave. SW, Huron, and formerly of Iroquois, died Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral mass will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 2, at St. Pauls Catholic Church at Iroquois with Rev. Cathal Gallagher officiating. Burial will be at St. Pauls Cemetery. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the mass at the church Saturday morning. There will be a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Laura Flowers was born Laura Lillian Laposky on December 31, 1909, to Edward and Minnie (Simmons) Laposky at Iroquois, SD. She lived most of her life in Iroquois. On March 4, 1930, Laura married John Flowers at Iroquois. Laura served her community well, being an active member and organist at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Iroquois, school board secretary, county election judge, avid card player, and a pianist for the silent movies when she was a teenager. She was a good friend to many, and her memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She is survived by 3 children, John Dick (Marilyn) Flowers of Mitchell, Charles (Aleta Tootie) Flowers of Iroquois, and Frances (Bill) Lingen of Oak Grove, MN; 8 grandchildren, Tony Flowers, Terri (Brian) Juhnke, Thomas (Julie) Flowers, Doug Flowers, Michael (Mary) Flowers, Kim (Jerry) Garcia, Chris (Tim) Lauzon, and John Lingen; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Alma Laposky of Chesterfield, MO; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John on October 9, 1985; 3 sisters, Frances Brandrup, Mildred Crawford, and Ruth Gilchrist; 2 brothers, Louis Laposky, and Russell Laposky; 3 brothers-in-law, Lester Brandrup, Harold Crawford, and Leonard Gilchrist; and 2 sisters-in-law, Thelma Laposky, and Margaret (Peter) Kloberdanz.
