Laura Boston, age 92, of Chanhassen, MN, and formerly of Wolsey, died Friday, January 14, 2005, at the N.C. Little Memorial Hospice at Edina. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 19, at the Welter Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Channell officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday morning until time of service at the funeral home. Laura Boston was born Laura Celestine Getscher in Plainview, NE, on February 5, 1912, to Clarence and Sarah (Shoemaker) Getscher. When she was a small child she moved with her family to Wolsey, SD, where Laura had lived most of her life. On July 28, 1939, Laura married George Boston at Madison, NE. She was a schoolteacher in Wolsey and the surrounding area for many years and retired as a schoolteacher in Beadle County in 1971. She spent the last few years of her life living with family in Las Vegas, NV, and most recently with family in Chanhassen, MN. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Wolsey, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her many interests included cooking, knitting, reading, and gardening. She is survived by 2 daughters, Joan Dennis of Las Vegas, NV, and Bonnie (David) Miller of Minneapolis, MN; also, Mary Katherine Samelson who was like a daughter to her; 3 grandchildren, Cory (Tricia) Rogers of Las Vegas, NV, Shane (Carey) Rogers, of Las Vegas, NV, and Shanna Horton of Minneapolis, MN; 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler Rogers, Courtney Rogers, Jacob Rogers, Joshua Rogers, and Elayna Horton; and 1 sister-in-law, Pearl Getscher of Wolsey. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 50 years, George on September 3, 1995; and 1 brother, Elmer Getscher.
