Larry D. Madsen, age 86, of Belview, MN and formerly of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Parkview Nursing Home in Belview.

His funeral service will be 10:30 am on Monday, January 16, 2017 at American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at Arlington City Cemetery in Arlington, SD.

Visitation with the family present will be from 2-4 pm on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Welter Funeral Home; or visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday.

Larry was born on November 18, 1930 in Arlington, SD to Andy and Christine (Holmgaard) Madsen. He attended school in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School in 1949.

Larry was united in marriage to Elnor Lucille Pedersen on August 21, 1949 on the Pedersen family farm near Arlington. They moved to Huron soon after, where they lived for many years until moving to Redwood Falls, MN in 2012 to be closer to family. Larry had a long career as a parts manager in auto dealerships most recently at Sibley Motors. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and carpentry work. He was a member of American Lutheran Church in Huron.

Larry was survived by one daughter, Dawn (Toby) Allen of Redwood Falls, MN; one son, Bruce (Anne) Madsen of Sioux Falls; 6 grandchildren, Christina (Matt) Pekoske, Michael Madsen, Jean (Joey) Stoick, Mandy (Justin) Holzapfel, Jacob Allen, and April (Kyle) Noel; five great-grandchildren, Keegan, Hadley, Shay, Zachary, and Reese.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elnor on December 22, 2006; his son, Gary Madsen; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Delphay and Lyle Nelson, and Maxine and Faunce Collins.
