Larry Brink, age 73, of Huron, SD, died at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, September 21, 2013, after a brief battle with acute leukemia. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, at Huron Christian Church with burial at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Wednesday, September 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.; or Thursday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the church. All memorials will be given to Diamond Willow Ministries at Fort Thomson, SD. Larry was born to Abraham and Wilma (Kleyne) Brink near Harrison, SD on April 19, 1940. He attended schools near Boyden, IA and in Corsica, SD. On June 15, 1961 Larry married Mary Lou Teeselink in Corsica.They were married for 52 years. Larry began working for Brink Construction in 1957. He worked for Beadle Electric/Dakota Energy for 38 years as a lineman, line superintendent, and operations manager. He enjoyed breaking horses to ride and drive, fishing, and hunting. He loved to create homemade gifts for others. Above all, he enjoyed time spent with family. He was also actively involved in the Huron Christian Church, and was devoted to Diamond Willow Ministries at Ft. Thompson, SD and served as a board member. Grateful for having shared in Larry's life are his wife, Mary of Huron, 4 children Jane (Lee) Miller of Rapid City, Kaye (Scott) Hammond of Sioux Falls, Amy (Lynn) Kruse of Huron, and Dan (Whitney) Brink of Ankeny, IA; 10 grandchildren, Alyssa (Drew) Meyer of Lamar, CO, Tyler and Jaycee Miller of Rapid City, Jon and Molly Hammond of Sioux Falls, Alex, Noah, and Will Gross of Huron, Abe and Charlotte Brink of Ankeny. 3 step-grandchildren, Adam (Darci) Kruse of Minneapolis, MN, Ashley Metter of Huron, and Allison Kruse of Twentynine Palms, CA; 4 step-greatgrandchildren, Owen and Oliver Kruse, and Micah and Taylor Metter; 5 siblings, Donna (Don) Olivier of Philip, Darrell (Ann) Brink of Sioux Falls, Sharon (Virgil) Menning of Britton, Merle (Connie) Brink of Bismark, ND, and Janice (Kevin) VanGenderen of Corsica; mother-in-law, Gertrude Teeselink; 3 sisters-in-law, Char (Rich) Uilenberg, Betty VanZee, and Jill Gruenewald; and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Merlin; father-in-law, John Teeselink; and 2 brothers-in-law, Howard VanZee and John Lieuwen.
