Landis "Lanny" L. Lundeen, age 74, of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His body has been cremated and his memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with Military Honors by the Huron Veterans Council. Lundeen, the son of Kenneth and Phyllis (Hageman) Lundeen, was born on March 28, 1941 in Huron, SD. He attended Huron schools. Lanny served his country in the U.S Marines and was honorably discharged in March 1963. While Lanny was stationed at Cherry Point, NC, he met and married Marie Swindell on September 29, 1962. After his discharge, the couple moved to Huron, SD. On February 19, 1985, Lanny married Leona Flowers in Las Vegas, NV. They made their home at Chadron, NE until moving to Pierre, SD in 1988 and then to Huron in 1991. Lanny was a life long employee of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and the DM & E Railroad . Lanny was a member of the Whitlock Resort Association and the Pipefitter's Union. Lanny was a huge outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodcarving. He also loved to race cars and ride motorcycles. Lanny enjoyed playing Santa Clause for several years. Grateful for having shared in his life are his two daughters: Teresa Dosch and Cindy Lutz both of Augusta, GA; two sisters: Linda Sorenson and LeAnn Wood of Odessa, TX; eight grandchildren: Amanda Lutz, Matthew Dosch, Brenden Lutz, Nicholas Dosch, Jacob and Joel Dosch, and Kyleigh and Evan Grier; his aunt and uncle, Don and Joan Lundeen of Huron, SD; and companion, Linda Steffensen of Tacoma, WA Lanny was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leona; daughter, Kristen "Libby" Grier; his aunts and uncles: Vern and Helen Broderson, Emerson and Mary Hageman, and Milo and Marie Hageman.
