Laina Barton, age 26, of rural Huron, SD, died Thursday, October 20, 2011, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, as a result of a motor-vehicle accident. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, at First Baptist Church in Huron with burial at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Angels Cemetery in Presho, SD. Visitation with family present will be Monday at First Baptist Church from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.; or Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Laina Barton was born Laina Kate Brodrecht, daughter of David and Glenda (Hight) Brodrecht, on September 10, 1985, in Pierre, SD. She grew up in the Presho area where she attended school and graduated from high school in 2004. She then attended and graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD, with a degree in nursing in 2007. Laina moved to Huron following her graduation. On September 27, 2008, Laina married Jay Barton in Huron. Laina began her nursing career at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home; and presently at Huron Regional Medical Center on the medical, surgical, and ICU wards. While growing up she was a member of 4-H, and FFA. With a farming background she appreciated everything agricultural, and loved being in the outdoors. She enjoyed hunting, participating in rodeo especially barrel racing, snowmobiling, and 4-wheeling. She loved to play the guitar and sing all venues of music, especially western music. She is survived by her husband, Jay of rural Huron; 1 daughter, Paiton at home; her mother; Glenda Brodrecht of Presho; 1 sister, Shawna (Judd) Kaiser of Winner; 1 brother, Glen (Meggan) Brodrecht of Presho; grandparents, Elaine Hight of Presho, and William and Marie Brodrecht of Presho; 3 nieces, Emmarie, Mataya, and Ellison; 3 nephews, William, Tate, and Brady; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, David Brodrecht on December 14, 2005; and maternal grandfather, Cecil Hight.
