Obituary

Kyle Rowen, age 23, of Sioux Falls, and formerly of Wessington, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, as a result of a car accident. He felt very strongly about helping others throughout his life and he generously gave in death in the form of organ/tissue donation. His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Wessington Auditorium with Rev. Allen Sager officiating. Burial will be at the Wessington Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home resuming from 6-8 p.m. at the Wessington Auditorium with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., or Thursday morning one hour prior to the service at the auditorium. Kyle Lane Rowen was born on October 29, 1984, to Scott and Tracy (Larson) Rowen in Huron, SD. He attended school in Wessington where he was very active in sports, graduating from Wessington High School in 2003. He moved to Jamestown, ND, where he attended school and played for the college basketball team, and later transferred to SDSU at Brookings. In 2005, he moved to Sioux Falls where he worked initially for Menards and then the Sears Automotive Department. In the Fall of 2007 he resumed his schooling at Southeast Vo-Tech in Sioux Falls majoring in computers. He was engaged to be married to the love of his life, Sarah; looking forward to being part of the Wynia family. He enjoyed being with his friends, making sure everyone was having a good time. He always made you feel like you were his best friend, using that infectious smile and laugh. He was inseparable from his older sister, Kristi, but his younger sister Kami and younger brother Kolby were just as special to him. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington, and the Sanford Health Club in Sioux Falls. His many interests included hunting, participating in and watching all sporting events both in high school and beyond, and playing practical jokes on his family and friends. In addition to playing basketball for Jamestown College, he also was a member of the Miller-Wessington Shockers Amateur Baseball Team. He is survived by his father, Scott Rowen of Wessington; his mother, Tracy Rowen of Wessington; 2 sisters, Kristi Rowen of Sioux Falls, and Kami Rowen of Wessington; 1 brother, Kolby Rowen of Wessington; his fiance, Sarah Wynia of Sioux Falls; his maternal grandmother, Audrey Larson of Wessington; and his paternal grandparents, Keith and Shirley Rowen of Tulare. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Delton Larson.
