Kenneth C. (KO) Kauth, age 94, passed away on Thursday, January 03, 2019 at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. His casket will be closed at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-7 on Monday, January 7, 2019 with family present from 5-7, with a scripture service to begin at 6:30 PM at Welter Funeral Home in Huron.
Kenneth C. (KO) Kauth was born on August 18, 1924 to parents Carl P. and Ella Grace (Lovett) Kauth in Huron, South Dakota. KO attended Cavour Public Schools for 8 years and received his GED.
KO married Veronica (Tootie) Greschke in Huron, South Dakota on August 20, 1946. To this union, four children were born.
KO worked at OK Tire for 23 years, Deslauriers & Hawks for 8 years and Beadle County for 26 years as the Beadle county auditor and commissioner. He also worked for the City of Huron as a park superintendent at Memorial Park for 11 years. KO was proud to serve in the South Dakota Legislature for 10 years from 1969 to 1978.
KO was a member of Knights of Columbus, Huron Elks, Isaac Walton League, and the Optimist Club. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He was also an avid hockey, football and baseball fan.
Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife Tootie of Huron; children Pamela (Stan) Hegg of Huron, Deborah (Walter) Bozentko of Huron, and Kevin (Sherry) Kauth of Rapid City. Seven grandchildren; Jamie Severance, Joe Severance, Brandon Kauth, Blake Kauth, Kent Bozentko, Adam Bozentko, and Kyle Bozentko. Four great-grandchildren Elizabeth Severance, Sydnee, Jozie, and Zemi Severance. His sister, Elnora Burdick of Redfield and his brother Richard (Joan) Kauth of Iowa. His sister-in-law Margaret Greschke and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; his daughter Barbara Price in 1989 and three sisters and their spouses.
