Kevin Smith, age 56, of Huron, SD, passed away on February 21, 2025, at Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Welter Funeral Home with burial to follow at St. Martin Cemetery in Huron.

Kevin was born on April 25, 1968, in Cherokee, Iowa. For the past few years, Kevin lived at the Meendering House.

Throughout his life, Kevin worked in janitorial services, made 3M clips, and packaged fishing lures.

Kevin enjoyed watching basketball games and other videos on his iPad, as well as participating in community activities. He liked spending time outdoors, often sitting on the porch, and enjoyed one-on-one moments with staff, especially playing catch with them. When the weather turned too cold, he would spend time in the four-seasons room or the living room. Though he loved the outdoors, Kevin also cherished his solitude. He had a deep appreciation for music, regularly attending concerts and sporting events.

Kevin will be remembered for being friendly to everyone, for his humor, and his hugs.
