Kevin Hanson, age 56, of Rapid City, SD formerly of Huron, SD passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at his home in Rapid City.  A private family service will be Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the Welter Funeral Home with burial at the Riverside Cemetery.

Kevin Hanson, the son of Burlyn and Valla Vee (Baum) Hanson, was born on July 11, 1963 in Huron, South Dakota. He attended school and graduated from Huron High School. Kevin lived in Huron until moving to Rapid City in 1992.  He worked as a manager at a restaurant for many years until his health forced him to retire.

Kevin enjoyed fishing and camping and loved the Black Hills. He was proud of the fact that he was the great grandchild of the first registered white birth in Beadle County, Albert H. Baum. He enjoyed cars and attending car shows. He cared deeply for his family and spending time with his family and friends.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his mother, Valla Vee Dunn of Sioux Falls; his father, Burlyn Hanson of Huron; sister Melanie (Gary Kasperson) Letsche of Huron; brother Craig Alan Hanson of Sioux Falls; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his step dad George Dunn and his grandparents and cousin Mark Podhradsky and aunts Carol Baum and Mikki Hanson and uncle Dale Lemke.
