Kermit B.
Taft
May 20, 1941 – November 22, 2016
Kermit B. Taft, age 75, of Huron, SD, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at his home in Huron, SD.
His body has been cremated and a funeral service will be held at a later date with burial at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield, SD.
Kermit B. Taft, the son of Melvin and June (Boyd) Taft was born on May 20, 1941 in Huron, SD. He graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD with a Business Degree. Kermit had a very successful career as a salesman for Hallmark Cards, which also included 5 different "home" states for the family before he hung up his salesman's hat in 1978. He then moved back to Huron and operated the Gaslight Bar, and provided outstanding taxidermy services for many years.
Kermit relished the gathering for pheasant hunting every year, and the story telling, shenanigans and never ending laughs that were always a part of spending time with his family and friends. He had a natural warmth that made even those who didn't know him happy, we will miss his big and sometimes mischievous smile.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his two sons, Brian (Deb) Taft, of Rosemont, MN and Blake (Darcy) Taft of Moorhead, MN; along with his treasured and adored grandchildren, Granger (Breanna Casper), Logan (Catherine), Lindsey and Zach. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and his many lifelong friends.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brett; grandson, Teddy; brother, Lamont; and sisters, Bonnie Schinderling and Joyce Wheat.
