Kenneth R. "Kenny" Palmer, age 80, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Avantara Huron in Huron, South Dakota. His memorial service will be on Friday, December 27 at 10:30 AM at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at Wolsey Cemetery in Wolsey with military honors by Huron Veteran's Council. Visitation with the family present, will be on Thursday, December 26 from 5-7 PM at Welter Funeral Home in Huron.
Kenny Palmer was born on December 15, 1939 to parents Martin and Luverne (Meyers) Palmer in Huron, South Dakota. Kenny got his GED and then enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 31, 1957 and was honorably discharged on October 1, 1960 achieving the rank of Airman Third Class. He completed basic training at Lacklund Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas. Kenny was stationed in Okinawa, Japan for 18 months.
He married Mildred Goins in Clarksville, Indiana on October 15, 1959. Kenny and Millie made their home in Wolsey where Kenny worked at Pullman Well Drilling as the well-drilling manager. Kenny enjoyed golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved watching Kentucky Wildcat Basketball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Millie on March 17, 2019; daughter, Debbie Palmer Montoya, son Kevin Palmer, and the Palmer triplets; sisters Carol Lewis and Diane (Jesse) Foust; brothers Jerry Palmer, Richard Palmer, and Gene Palmer.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Kelly) Christopherson and son, Todd Palmer both of Huron; 4 grandchildren, Samantha Christopherson, Kyle Christopherson, David (Crystal) Palmer, and Pamela Smith; 3 great-grandchildren, Lyndsey Zeledon, A.J. Zeledon, and Desiree Brady; sister Sylvia Wicklund of Florida; brothers Lanny Palmer of North Dakota and Danny Palmer of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
