Keith Lounsbury, age 92, of Huron, died on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Sun Quest Healthcare Center.

His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 26, at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, with burial at the Riverside Cemetery in Huron.

Visitation will be Friday, December 26, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. .

Keith Lounsbury, the son of Burton and Louise (Albrecht) Lounsbury was born on January 5, 1916, in Spink County near Doland SD. He attended schools in the Doland area and graduated from Doland High School in 1935. Keith received his Bachelor of Arts from Huron College and his Master's Degree from the University of South Dakota. He served   in the United States Army during World War II , in the South Pacific Theatre. Keith married Rudy Anna Downer on June 11, 1947 in Huron, SD. He taught in country and Huron schools before becoming a principal for the McKinley and Wilson Elementary Schools in Huron, and the Hutterite Colonies. Keith retired in1980.

Keith was a member of the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.   He published two books of historical fiction, and a spelling primer.He enjoyed traveling, reading, woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends.

Grateful for having shared his life are his son,  Loren (Kristi) Lounsbury, Lincoln NE, their children: Jonah (Sarah) , and Calli Lounsbury, Ryan (Michelle) Suhr, and Elizabeth (Ross) Heusman; his 3 daughters, Linda (Phil Martin) Lounsbury, Minneapolis, MN, their son Jonathan; Lola (Craig) Hoover, Grand Island, NE, their children, John and Allison; and Lois (Michael) Frank, Iroquois, SD, and their children, Jessica, Erica, and Jenna;  great-granddaughter, Ella Lounsbury; 1 niece; and 4 nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rudy in 1995; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.
