Obituary

Katie Glanzer, age 88, of 50 7th St. SE, Huron, died Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 3rd at Huron Mission Church with Rev. Richard Birr officiating. Burial will be at Hutterthal Cemetery, rural Carpenter. Friends may call Monday afternoon after 3:00 PM or evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Tuesday morning. The family will be present from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Katie Glanzer was born Katie Waldner on April 21, 1918, to Martin and Maria (Hofer) Waldner at Bridgewater. She moved with her family to a farm near Carpenter and attended grade school at Carpenter. Upon the confession of her faith, she was baptized and received into membership at Hutterthal Mennonite Church, rural Carpenter on June 6, 1937. On July 27, 1950, Katie married Elard Glanzer. They made their home on a farm near Carpenter. In 1995, one year after her husband's death on January 6, 1994, Katie moved to the Courtyard Apartments in Huron. She enjoyed living there. She faithfully attended Huron Mission Church until she became a resident of the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home on December 23, 2003. Katie was a devoted mother who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Errol (Dawn) Glanzer of Milbank, Lana Glanzer of Huron and Regan (Kristi) Glanzer of Huron; 5 grandchildren, Brandi Trapp, Brooke, Brodie, Lexy and Roxy Glanzer; 3 great grandchildren, Mason and Rylee Trapp and Carter Bain; 3 sisters, Lydia (Gearhard) Hofer of Huron, Esther (Elgin) Hofer of Frankfort and Adena Tschetter of Huron; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ben and Agnes Hofer of Huron; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elard, 3 brothers, Jacob, Martin and Mike, 3 sisters, Evelyn Decker, Anna Hofer and Elsie Hofer, 3 brothers-in-law, Pete Decker, Edwin Hofer, and Alvin Tschetter.
