Kathy J. Olson, age 71, of Huron, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at her home in Huron. Her memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Welter Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday morning.

Kathy was born on August 24, 1953, to Keith and Elizabeth "Betty" (Smith) Lyle in Huron, South Dakota.

On February 27, 1972, Kathy married the love of her life, Steven "Snacks" Olson, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Huron, beginning a partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering support.

A passionate cook, Kathy's love for preparing meals was matched only by her joy in sharing them with friends and family. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, and the secret ingredient in every dish she made was always love. She and Steven enjoyed countless hours caring for their lawn and spending quality time with their beloved family, friends, and dogs. Kathy was known for always putting others first, making sure those around her were well-fed, cared for, and surrounded by love.

Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steven "Snacks" Olson; her beloved Aunt Darlene Martin; her mother, Elizabeth Lyle; and her father, Keith Lyle.

She leaves behind her two sons: Brian Olson and Alice Berman of Minneapolis, MN, and their sons, Felix and Teddy; and Brad (Karlie) Olson of Groton, SD, and their children, Willa and Max. Kathy is also survived by her sister, Patsy (Dennis) Hart of Bellevue, NE, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Char Olson of Rapid City, SD, Kim Roberts of Pierre, SD, and Lisa Sperl of Colorado. Kathy's beloved dog, Piper, will be lovingly cared for by one of her oldest and dearest friends.

Kathy will be deeply missed by her family and a wide circle of friends. Her kind heart, infectious smile, and nurturing spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
