Kathryn J. "Katie" Stahl, age 88, of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at CentraCare Nursing Home in Long Prairie, Minnesota. Her funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Welter Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Katie was born on June 17, 1930 to parents Jacob P. and Susann (Hofer) Stahl in Lake Byron Township, South Dakota. Katie attended Huron Public Schools. Katie worked at Model Cleaners for 8 years before becoming a mother's helper to her brother Joe's children, Jimmy, Davey, Mary Jo and Terri. Katie worked as a housekeeper for 24 years at the Huron Country Club.  She enjoyed traveling, bowling, and gathering with relatives and friends.

Except for the last month of her life, Katie lived her life in Huron. She lived with her brother John until his passing in 1997. Katie then moved to the Courtyard Apartments where she was lucky enough to develop a 2nd family of kind, caring friends over daily "coffee".

In her later years, Katie loved Wii bowling, proudly telling her family of various Wii bowling tournament victories at the Huron Senior Center and Sunquest Nursing Home.  Her final Wii bowling tournament victories came in the last year of her life at Violet Tschetter Nursing Home in Huron.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Joe (Marj), John, Jake (Erla Jean) and Paul (Betty) Stahl, sisters Ann Stahl and Mary Retke (Don); nephews Sedley Stahl and Todd Retke, sister-in-law Joy Stahl. Katie is survived by her brother: Elmer of Oskaloosa, IA, and sister Darlene (Wilmer) Buller of Mountain Lake, MN; many nieces, nephews and their families.
