Kathryn Katie Kempf, age 90, of 1345 Michigan Ave. SW, Huron, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral mass will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 8, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Joe Holzhauser officiating. Burial will be a St. Martin Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the funeral mass at the church Thursday morning. Kathryn Ann Kempf, the youngest of 7 children, was born on May 4, 1916, to John and Catherine (Thill) Kempf at Woonsocket, SD. As a young child she moved with her family to Sioux City, IA, where she graduated from Central High School in 1935. She then attended and graduated from secretarial school. Katie lived most of her adult life in Omaha and worked as the personal secretary for over 43 years to the Director of Public Relations of the Union Pacific Railroad until her retirement on August 1, 1978. Katie moved to Huron in 1992 and on September 6, 1994, she became a resident of the Huron Nursing Home. She is survived by 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, William, Herman, Edward, and Jerome; 2 sisters, Gertrude Rader, and Agnes Boelter; and 2 nephews, Raymond Kempf, and Don Rader.
