Kathi Frey, age 50, of 50 7th St. SE, Huron, died Monday, June 6, 2005, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, June 10, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Friday afternoon. The family will be present from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Kathi Jolene Frey was born on August 12, 1954, to Herman and Clara (Madsen) Frey at Redfield, SD. In 1956, she moved with her family to Huron. Kathi attended the Helen Buchanan School in Huron for a few years while she lived at home. From 1984-2004 she was a resident of the Center for Independence. On July 1, 2004, Kathi became a resident of the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her interests included watching television, drawing in her notebook, and singing into her personal microphone. She is survived by 6 brothers, Don (Sally) Frey of Vallejo, CA, Erwin (Colleen) Frey of Sioux Falls, Harlan (Linda) Frey of Arlington, TX, Bill Frey of Corpus Christi, TX, Charles (Rosalie) Frey of Williamsburg, VA, and Larry (Janice) Frey of Huron; 4 sisters, Marilyn Frey of Huron, Clarice (Delvin) Jacobson of Black Hawk, Arlys (Lawrence) Schlimgen of Worthington, MN, and Anita Baum of Wenatchee, WA; 1 sister-in-law, Donene Frey of Huron; and many nieces and nephews. Se was preceded in death by her parents; and 1 brother, Melvin Frey.
